Found an interesting thing with Server 2012 which I just installed, the network location profile can't be changed the way it could with Windows 7/Server 2008R2.  Instead you click on the System Tray icon for the network, then bring out the pop-out, Turn Sharing On and then it becomes private.  Little different…  Reference:  http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/18934-change-network-location-from-public-to-private-in-windows-8
