Windows Vista and Can't Redirect a User's subfolder

Came across this one recently....

Vista Business user, joined to a domain and has a laptop. The laptop was added to an OU that has redirected folders but that wasn't working for the user. Moved him to an OU where home folders weren't redirected and everything went back to normal except the Pictures folder. We couldn't manually redirect it through Pictures/Properties/Location either, it still had the network location.

I had created a separate OU with explicit redirection essentially turned off (the GPO specified local hard drive), rebooted a couple of times, manually applied gpudpate but still no luck.

I eventually found the following instructions for a similar issue here.

1. Goto: Start Menu > Run > Type regedit

2. Goto: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

3. Edit String: 'Personal' > Change to the Drive/Folder that you want as 'My Documents' (contains all your user folders, i.e. Music, Pictures, etc.).

4. Close and Restart Your Computer.
