Drive Mappings via GPO without a logon script
One of the things I really like about Windows Server 2008 is the new and expanded set of Group Policy Objects. You now have the option to map network drives and printers. While we haven't done the printers yet, we have just finished replacing the logon script's drive mappings with the new GPOs. Microsoft's Technet blog does a nice job of detailing the procedure here. They also describe how to map drives based on group membership which works perfectly for our accounting, servicing, and other groups. Once maps are setup (and remember to apply the GPO to the computers, not users), mapping drives is a matter of adding a user to a group and away you go!
