Google enabled the calendar and contacts synchronization functionality over Microsoft's ActiveSync which is part of the 2.2+ software on the iPhone and iPod Touch. This is pretty cool in that you can sync your Gmail contacts and calendars now. Of course this won't work if you already are syncing to an Exchange server since you can only have one ActiveSync account setup but for those who have Gmail accounts and have an iPhone or iPod touch for personal use, this is awesome!
